Karen Pitsley, AIA, CAPS

Karen Pitsley, AIA, CAPS is principal architect of Transforming Architecture of Howard County. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the School of Architecture, University of Maryland College Park, Ms. Pitsley joined the firm of GMA&D as a Project Designer.  In 2003, Ms. Pitsley and Kate McCullough, AIA opened Symmetry First Architects, LLC.  Because of her love of residential architecture and desire to work only in this venue, she decided to leave Symmetry First and start Residential Reflections Architects, LLC.

Ms. Pitsley’s constant effort to move forward and reach new heights lead her to become President of Transforming Architecture in 2008, the nation’s only franchisor of architectural services, which now has franchisees in Maryland, Ohio, Florida, and Texas.  Due to the originality and demand for a franchise of architectural services, as well as the extreme success of Transforming Architecture, Ms. Pitsley was named 2011 Innovator of the Year by The Daily Record Newspaper.  She has been a presenter to Architects about business and marketing around the country.

With her continued success and desire to give back to her community, Ms. Pitsley became Co-founder and Vice-President of Shari’s Promise, a non-profit dedicated to protecting children from childhood sexual abuse. Always striving to make a positive impact in her community, Ms. Pitsley works to promote and support professional women achieve their career goals through her 2010 -2011 Presidency of the Business Women’s Network of Howard County.  Because of her tireless efforts to give back, she was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women of 2011.

Karen Pitsley lives in Highland, MD with her husband and two boys.

 

Karin Farrell

Karin C. Farrell, AIA Associate is currently an Intern Architect at Transforming Architecture of Howard Country. After graduating from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Architectural Studies in 2004, Ms. Farrell has made efforts to give back to the community as well as Interning at various Architect Firms.

Ms. Farrell is the Founder and Chair of Young Architects Forum (YAF) in Baltimore which encourages the involvement of young architects in their communities while pursuing educational opportunities and assists with the networking of professionals in the field.

Ms. Farrell served as facilitator for a major project which involved the joining of Habitat for Humanity, Under Armour, and LEED Documentation. She assisted in the documentation of each component of the residence toward LEED for Homes Platinum from the initial design to the finalizing construction and documentation. The project went on to be the first LEED Platinum Residence in Baltimore City and continued its recognition by winning the People’s Choice Award.

While working at Architect firms in Washington as well as Maryland, Ms. Farrell has been involved in the Architectural design and construction of community planning, educational, commercial, residential, and environmental projects. She has continued to give back to the community through various volunteer and humanitarian efforts including Habitat for Humanity construction projects as well as assisting recovering addicts and homeless individuals move toward a more stable life.

Ms. Farrell plans on utilizing her Architectural background and volunteer efforts to continuing benefiting the community.

Jeanne Green

Jeanne Green is the office manager of Transforming Architecture of Howard County. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from the State University College at Oneonta, NY and a Masters in Education from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Green has provided administrative and marketing services in architectural offices for over 25 years.

Mrs. Green and her husband live in Columbia, Maryland. They are the parents of two grown boys and a daughter who is attending Salisbury University.
